Uganda loves grilled meat. But what if the real opportunity was hiding in the seasoning?

That’s the question that led Ahaz Mugisha to build Noxana.

Before becoming a founder, Ahaz trained and worked as a chef. From professional kitchens to cooking at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara, he saw something familiar everywhere:

Nyama choma. Mishkaki. Kuku choma.

Ugandans already loved grilling.

But the seasoning itself was often treated as an afterthought.

Ahaz saw an opportunity to change that.

Instead of trying to create a completely new habit, he decided to improve one that already existed.

That became Noxana, a chef-crafted seasoning designed specifically for open-fire grilling.

But there is another part of this story that stands out.

Ahaz and his co-founder Suzan started Noxana with UGX 1,000,000.

No big funding story. No massive launch.

Just an idea, experience, a co-founder, and the willingness to build.

Today, they are not only working on a product. They are building the Noxana Private Grill Experience, helping customers understand fire, protein, timing and technique while growing through real customers, WhatsApp orders and local retail.

Sometimes entrepreneurship isn't about inventing something nobody has seen before.

Sometimes it's about looking at something everyone already does and asking:

“How can we do this better?”
